What is PAT Testing?
Portable Appliance Testing, also known as PAT testing, is simply the process by which electrical appliances are routinely checked for safety.
The correct term for the whole process is ‘In-service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment’. Which is why we call it PAT Testing.
Why do I need my portable appliances testing?
If you’re a landlord or you run a small business, practice or salon, you have a duty of care to ensure you have taken all reasonable precautions to maintain a safe environment.
Simply put, you have to make sure your employees, clients or tenants are not in any danger when they’re on your premises.
Ensuring that all appliances are safe and fit for purpose, on a regular basis, is an important part of this.
In fact, an increasing number of insurance companies are insisting that appliances such as kettles, computers, printers, fans and heaters are regularly tested as a condition of the policy.
